Well, its Earth Day and the first time I heard anything about it was on the six o' clock news this evening!>( I'm surprised no one said anything about it today at school, which sorta makes me mad. Hhmmm...maybe I should start an Earth Club or something at school, doing lots of Eco-friendly things around the school.
Whatever, I doubt it, I just like to ramble. Well, to do my part, I've decided to make this journal a 'green' journal. I'll offer some tips on how to make your life a little greener, or you don't have to listen to me and let our green/blue earth slowly suffer...*shame on you*
Okay, first of all, I hope everyone who's reading this journal recycles at least paper, if not, do you know how many trees are cut down each day to make paper? I don't , but I know its a shitload of trees. About a mile from my high school they are cutting down trees on both sides of the road. Everytime I look at it my spirits drop, it makes me so sad...And all they're doing for is to make a highway through there...Wait, I'm getting off topic. Ok, below are some tips and facts and whatnot.
-An estimated 100 BILLION plastic bags end up in landfills(and alongside the road) every year. A good idea is to bring your own tote to the store.
-You know those curly white lightbulbs? Yeah, stick to them, they last up to 10 times as long than regular lightbulbs. And just so you know, they're called energy-efficient lightbulbs.
-Whenever you get giftbags, don't trash 'em. Save 'em and reuse them. That's less trash AND less money coming out of your pocket.
-If you are going to get a computer, get a laptop, they use less electricity in order to run.
-Reduce trash by using utensils that can be washed(which I assume everyone uses these at home), instead of plastic ones.
-Cleaning the lint filter after every load of clothes is good. A dirty filter uses up to 30% more energy, bad, bad, bad.
-Recycle aluminum cans, another thing you can do is walk along the road and pick up trash (but ALWAYS wear gloves). Plus, you'll get so much money per pound of crushed cans at the drop-off place.
-Visit the site

-Also, one last thing, don't just become 'green' for one day. Do it everyday!
-And just because I am a FMA lover, remember this qoute from Conqueror of Shamballa, when Ed is traveling Al at the end. "We can't keep thinking that we're all that matter, that the world has nothing to do with us....Its our home now, and we have to do our part."
So, for parting words, just think about what that quote means, I hope you'll understand. So for the time being, Peace.
